About the project
Every child likes to play games. Gamification in education today is a great way to connect games that kids love with the educational process. This can make the lesson better and more interesting. In this project, we are focusing on board games. The main aim is to create a board game about a specific topic collaboratively using ICT tools. It can be not only games with dice but and very popular today strategic card games or maybe something like Monopoly.
AIMS
Create a board game about a specific topic collaboratively using ICT tools.
The objectives:
● Gain a deeper understanding in a specific topic that is used in-game;
● Teach students how to use new ICT tools to empower collaborative and creative learning;
● Guide students in finding information in digital and printed sources, evaluate information critically and use it accurately and creatively;
● Create a board games database for other educators around the world;
● Provide opportunities for students to work and collaborate with student from other countries;
● Motivate students to study;
● Motivate teachers to use gamification in their practices.
WORK PROCESS
October 2019 – School presentations in TwinSpace. Evaluation of students and teachers at the beginning of the project.
November 2019 – March 2020 – creating games. Sharing photos in TwinSpace and projects' Padlet wall.
December 2019 – Sharing booklet about board games that are popular in different countries. Selection of the best booklet.
March 2020 – The end of the project. Project evaluation, dissemination. Making and publishing the database of created games.
EXPECTED RESULTS
• Database of created games;
• Better understanding of gamification in teachers' practices;
• Student will gain knowledge and experience on how to use different ICT tools and work collaboratively to create interesting content;
• Higher students' motivation.
